Not only do you have great vegetarian food ideas, go to college, read Harry Potter, take pictures, and enjoy running, but we also have a fairly similar background of "food issues", too. I really admire the fact that you've been able to take something that was so difficult for you and turn it around into a passion and, potentially, a career.

I think the key to maintaining a healthy diet is to love what you eat. Everyone can find food that's healthy, delicious, and good for them, be it grilled tofu on a bed of garlicky, olive oil sauteed spinach or a whole grain wrap with garden vegetables and a chicken breast. And when you eat a predominately healthy diet, treating yourself every once and a while is all that much more sweet! Personally, I try to eat a balanced diet full of whole grains, fiber, fruits and veggies, and healthy fats. And yes, I struggle with body image and the fact that I could eat more sugar in one serving that most people can eat in a week. However, I find I'm more secure and feel better about myself when I'm eating foods I know are good for my body, and that makes a huge difference in how I feel about myself day-to-day.genevievehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03436304914211594866noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2492625778057179989.post-78272566740791624722011-05-27T06:26:27.480-05:002011-05-27T06:26:27.480-05:00When I think of food, I think of fueling my body f...When I think of food, I think of fueling my body for all its daily activities ... it's like a car, it needs it's fuel! And a luxury car plain run's better on premium gas right? Not to mention it's a bit better for its engine haha ok forgive my cheesy metaophor). But it's OK to not eat "perfectly" all the time. What I've found works for me this this : attempt to make healthy choices when you can (i.e. if you have the choice btwn mcdonalds and subway... probably go for subway) or if you have the choice between a side of fruit or a side of onion rings - lean towards the fruit - but don't stress over little things like "which greek yogurt has fewer calories." At the same time... if you really want some fries one day .. then EAT THEM. just don't allow to ruin the rest of your days (both in terms of your mental feelings about it, and what else you eat)

phew ok sorry that was long... just my two cents :) when food becomes something that is stressful, that is when I consider it unhealthy.

PS just stumbled across your blog, i'm a new blogger too! I try to fuel my body with the necessary vitamins and nutrients it needs to perform it's best. I guess I take on the respect-and-be-respected-in-return philosophy with eating. If I respect my body and don't abuse food, it will respect me back by lookin' fine! :P

Thanks for stopping by my blog - so glad u said hello! Your blog looks fab! I'd say you are off to a better start than I ever was!Jessica @ Dishin' About Nutritionhttp://dishinaboutnutrition.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2492625778057179989.post-48613915845413081382011-05-24T21:27:45.094-05:002011-05-24T21:27:45.094-05:00My philosophy as of late is to enjoy food without ...My philosophy as of late is to enjoy food without worry, but check in periodically. I used to try to count calories throughout the day, but now I'm just listening to my body, making healthy decisions, and eating when I'm hungry or need energy. I think checking in at the end of the day to think about what I ate helps because if I realize that I totally ate horribly, I can try to eat better the next day. However, this usually doesn't happen- so reflecting on it at the end of the day, rather than constantly THROUGHOUT the day, allows me to be much more stress free.

I think food is one of life's greatest pleasures. I don't just respect food; I LOVE food! The more I worry and analyze things, the weirder I get about food. For me, it's easier when I'm relaxed about it.Allisonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05737114038920637316noreply@blogger.com
